What To Expect

Starting therapy can be a little intimidating, especially if this is your first time. That’s absolutely normal! I commend you for taking that next step and showing up for yourself. Many people have mixed feelings about that first appointment, so here are a few things to help you have a better understanding of what to expect.

What brought you in today.

Aspects of your life that bring you fulfillment and joy, and what is currently working well.

  • Current symptoms or challenges. Your goals for therapy and what you hope to achieve.
  • Your personal strengths, needs, and preferences.
  • Background information, including family history and current circumstances causing distress.
  • History of any past therapy and your experiences with it.

You may also be asked to provide necessary information regarding insurance coverage and emergency contacts. We will review essential practice details, including confidentiality, Informed Consent, cancellation policies, and billing practices. You are encouraged to ask questions at every step of the way.

After the first session, you will likely have a good sense of whether we are a good fit. If you feel comfortable, we will work together to develop a personalized plan to address your specific needs, schedule, and goals. I look forward to supporting you on this step toward creating a brighter future!
